Film Gear Hub launches a used film and photo gear marketplace where every seller is verified and the money waits for the buyer

Built by two working video producers, the US marketplace ID-checks every seller, records serial numbers before listing, and holds payment until the buyer inspects and accepts the gear.

AUSTIN, Texas, October 28, 2026: Film Gear Hub (filmgearhub.com) opened today as a marketplace for used cinema cameras, lenses, photo gear, and production equipment. Every seller passes a one-time government ID check before their first listing. Serial numbers for camera bodies, lenses, cinema cameras, and recorders go on record before a listing goes live. The buyer’s payment sits in a separate held account until the buyer accepts the item, or until 48 hours after delivery.

Most used gear changes hands two ways. Private sales through Facebook Marketplace, forums, and groups get a seller a fair price, but the buyer often pays a stranger and hopes. Resellers and trade-in programs remove that risk and price it into a lower offer. Film Gear Hub is built for the gap between them: a private-sale price with a verified seller, a condition record, and a hold on the money.

How it works

Listing is free. When an item sells, the seller pays a flat 8.5% that covers the platform and card processing, and nothing if it never sells. Sellers verify once and can list in about ten minutes. Each listing carries a grade on a public A to E condition scale, from light handling marks (A) to sold as-is for parts (E), backed by photos.

Film Gear Hub buys the shipping label for every order: tracked, signature required, and insured for the full sale price. Once the gear arrives, the buyer has 48 hours to inspect it. If it isn’t what the listing said, the buyer opens a case, the payout pauses, and Film Gear Hub reviews the issue. Upheld cases get a full refund, shipping included. If the buyer accepts, or 48 hours pass without a case, the seller is paid.

Film Gear Hub ships within the 50 states and DC. Returns are for items that arrive not as described, not for change of mind.
